Gaya, Aug 26 : Maoists blew up two mobile towers in Bihar''s Gaya district as the 48-hour shutdown in five states called by them ended on Tuesday night.

According to sources, around 400 Maoists detonated dynamites to blow up the towers at Guraru and at Gurua in Gaya.

They also set fire to four vehicles at Tilhautu in Rohtas district.

In another incident, a villager was killed and a jawan injured when Maoists opened fire at a makeshift CRPF camp at Bundu in Jharkhand.

The incident took place at around 11:00 p. m. when armed Maoists attacked the camp located in a school.

On Tuesday, Maoists burnt down four trucks and injured one security person in Ranchi. According to an eyewitness, there were more than 30-armed Maoists who attacked and burnt several trucks on National Highway-33, about 40 km from Ranchi.

Police officials believe that the attack was basically targeted against them.

In Orissa, Maoists blew up a railway station and abducted three railway employees in Sundargarh district.

According to the police, about 20 left-wing ultras blew up Roxy railway station, located in a remote area under K Bolang police station and triggered the explosion after asking the employees to move out.

The rebels also set ablaze about 15 heavy vehicles parked near the railway station. The station is used for transporting iron ore to the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP).

Tension prevailed among the people in the entire district after the attack.

Maoists had called for a two-day strike in five states -- Jharkhand, Orissa, Bihar, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh -- to protest against the alleged arrest of two senior members of the CPI Maoist group. (ANI)
