Markets end on a choppy note, both bourses down

BSEIndia stock markets ended on a choppy session to finally end in the end on Monday. Lack of support from the global counterparts was the reason behind this followed.

While the capital goods gained the banking index was offsetting the losses and so was the situation in the FMCG and the reality stocks as well.

In the morning the markets showed a subdued trend and moved in a very narrow range. The attempts were made to pull up the markets but they became weak as the European markets did very lit to push up the sentiments.

The benchmark Sensex ended at 17928.42, down 27.40 points or 0.15 per cent. National Stock Exchange closed at 5386.45, down 7.45 points or 0.14 per cent. BSE touched an intraday high of 18005.07 and low of 17856.40 during the day. While the NSE was at a high of 5409.10 and low of 5361.50 in trade so far.

The BSE Midcap performed well and the index was up by .20 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index edge up 0.14 per cent.

European markets were in the positive and it is expected that the US markets will follow suit.
