McIlroy, Graeme McDowell one shot away from WGC Cadillac Championship lead

Graeme McDowell and Rory McIlroyLondon, Mar 8 - Northern Irish golf star Rory McIlroy and his compatriot Graeme McDowell are reportedly just a shot away from the lead at the halfway stage of the WGC Cadillac Championship at Doral.

The lead is held by Americans Patrick Reed, Dustin Johnson , Matt Kuchar and Hunter Mahan, who are all under par after gusting winds caused over 100 shots to find water at the formidable re-modelled Blue Monster course.

According to the BBC, world number one Tiger Woods, who earlier in the day completed a 76- his highest score in 40 completed rounds at Doral, is six shots adrift after a
73 following mixed five bogeys and four birdies, including a 91-foot effort at the par three fourth.

Meanwhile, the report mentioned that Welshman Jamie Donaldson carded the low round of the day with a 70 and is also in a share of second at level par, while world number two Adam Scott is one shot better off in a tie for 21st at plus four after a second successive round featuring four birdies and two double bogeys.

Scott can replace Woods at the top of the world rankings if he wins the event and the American finishes outside the top-10, the report added. (ANI)
