Metro Tyres sets an ambitious target
Buoyed by the success enjoyed by the Indian two-wheeler industry, the major Tyre manufacturer, Metro Tyres has recently announced that it has set a bullish target of doubling up its sale sin the motorcycle segment to Rs. 100 crore.
Metro Tyres Managing Director Rummy Chhabra said that the company is confident that it will each its target of Rs. 100 crore as far the sales in the motorcycle segment are concerned. Currently, the company sells tyres close to Rs. 50 crore in the motorcycle segment.
Though, a major chunk of its sales come from rickshaw and bicycle tyres segments, the motorcycle segment currently contributes close to 10% in its total sales.
Chhabra also mentioned the fact that the company is investing Rs 35 crore for increasing production capacity of motor cycles tyres. Moreover, it may be noted here that the company is planning to raise production of two-wheeler tyres by 60,000-70,000 units a month in the next 3 to 4 months.
It is believed that once the company has completed the expansion process, it will have an average capacity of 1.80 lakh to 1.90 lakh tubes per month.
