Los Angeles - Michael Jackson is to be buried on what would have been his 51st birthday later this month, his father, Joe Jackson, told the New York Daily News in an interview published Monday.

The King of Pop's family has agreed to bury him at the Forest Lawn cemetery in Los Angeles on August 29, Joe Jackson said.

Separate media reports have said the popstar may be buried in an unmarked grave to protect his remains from fans who could damage the site or destroy the peaceful atmosphere of the cemetery.

Jackson died June 25 in Los Angeles at that age of 50, prompting an outpouring of emotion from distraught fans and an investigation into Jackson's doctor Conrad Murray, who is suspected of giving a highly dangerous anaesthetic, Propofol, to the King of Pop to help him sleep on the night before his untimely death.(dpa)
