Michelin & Cie to spend Rs 7000 crore on Indian Market

Michelin India Tyres Private LtdMichelin & Cie, the world's second-largest tyre maker, is looking to spend up to Rs 7,000 crore in India over a 10-year period, to manufacture and market radial tyres and tubes in the country.

Reports suggests that French tyre giant has sought government approval to acquire 100% stake in a new company Michelin India Tamil Nadu Tyres formed in April 2009. The company intends to set up the proposed greenfield unit, with an investment worth Rs 4,000 crore.

In a separate release, Michelin India Tyres Private Ltd. has informed that it has become the OE (original equipment) partner for the newly launched Honda JAZZ with Michelin 175/65 R15 84T Energy XM1.

With this alliance, the tiremaker has become the OE partner for all models of Honda produced in India.
