States suffer from this problem. This is one of the highest-profile policy assignments for the first lady since President Barack Obama took office in January of last year.

The Obamas hope to improve coordination within the government and work with parents and communities to improve nutrition, exercise and other habits of US children.

Barack Obama said that Childhood obesity was "one of the most urgent health issues that we face in this country." The aim of the new campaign was "to help parents make good decisions
