Microsoft training staff to explain difference between Windows 8 and RT to consumersAccording to a CNET report, a statement officially provided to it by Microsoft has revealed that the sales staff of the software company is being trained to explain, to the consumers, the key differences between the Windows 8 full version and Windows RT version.

With a number of Windows 8 and Windows RT devices scheduled for released towards the end of October, Microsoft said in its statement that it is currently training its store staff to ensure that they are able to provide the consumers with a "great experience" while purchasing the company's Surface tablet of a PC running the new Windows 8 version.

Revealing that, on an average, the sales staff will undergone nearly 15 hours of training, Microsoft said in its statement to CNET that store teams will trained to ask "qualifying questions" to ascertain the needs of the consumers and offering the best devices to fulfill those needs.

The biggest `RT versus Windows 8' distinguishing factor which the sales staff will highlight is that while the RT tablets use less-energy-consuming ARM processors and feature a Windows 8 version that is incompatible with older Windows software; the Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro tablets use Intel chips and are compatible with older Windows programs.

Noting that most consumers will probably expect Windows RT to run older Windows software, IDC analyst Bob O'Donnell said that since compatibility is a "huge, huge issue," the consumers "need to be clear on how RT differs from (Intel-based) x86 tablets."
