Srinagar, Oct 10 : The 22 year old Ruksana Kausar of Rajouri District in Jammu and Kashmir, who showed exemplary courage by overpowering a militant of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and shooting him dead has now become an icon to girls of the region.

Hailing from a remote village in Rajouri district Rauksana along with her sibling, overpowered a LeT terrorist, snatched his rifle and fired at him, killing him on the spot on September 27.

Rajouri’s Senior Superintendent Of Police (SSP), Shafqat Watali says : “This is an incident that has raised confidence among common people. It has deteriorated the morale of militant cadres who used to barge into houses of people, eat their food and force them into illegal activities. They will now think 10 times before barging into any house.”

Now many of girls in the region are getting motivated by Ruksana’s bravery.

"Girls should not lag behind in any way. They should fight their fear. Ruksana has raised enthusiasm in us that even we can do this. We should protect our family, village and the country. We shouldn''t lag behind," said Shehnaz Bhatt, a schoolgirl.

Ruksana’s act has instilled confidence among the locals. (ANI)
