Mines ministry suspends NALCO CMDUnion Mines Ministry suspended Abhay Kumar Srivastava, Chairman and CMD, National Aluminum Company Limited (NALCO). In this high profile bribery case, other names are yet to come before CBI. Srivastava is in custody of Central Bureau of Investigation till March, 3.

Mines Ministry said about this suspension in media release "Abhay Kumar Srivastava, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, National Aluminum Company Limited (NALCO) has been put under suspension with immediate effect following investigation/inquiry in a case (CBI regular Case 01/2011 of AC1 Branch) of criminal offence".

This suspension order is just one day ahead of Srivastava' arrest by CBI on Friday. This NALCO CMD (former) is accused of demanding bribe in gold. In the first hearing of the case before Patiala House Court, CBI presented Srivastava, wife Chandni Srivastava along with two others, Bhushan Lal Bajaj and Anita Bajaj.

Accomplices are accused of brokering for a winning a deal for a Madhya Pradesh based company. In the court, Srivastava pleaded Judges not to send him in the custody as this will result him losing his job. He also assured court of supporting the investigation. But court rejected his plea and ordered CBI to get him in custody. CBI also raided Indore based Bhatia International's Gurinder Singh Bhatia's residence in Indore.
