More than 300 guests and staff at the Metropark hotel in Hong Kong have been quarantined at a hotel as a safety measure against swine flu.

The decision of authorities to confine people inside the hotel has been criticized as an over-reaction.

Professor Gabriel Leung, under-secretary, Food & Health, said: "The reason is because we have had a confirmed case and no evidence of any community transmission."

Some guests are finding this confinement difficult. Some guests have complained about the food while some guests are expressing their anger and disgust with this confinement.  

Hong Kong's health authorities are testing three new suspected cases for the H1N1. Officials are still looking for another 46 hotel guests who fled the hotel. Their names have been given to immigration officials. The escaped persons will not be allowed to leave the city.
