Musharraf exit talk dismissed

Musharraf exit talk dismissedIslamabad, Feb. 25 : Major General (retired) Rashid Qureshi, the spokesman of Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, has rubbished rumours of the latter quitting office, or making a "graceful exit".

Reacting to reports in domestic and international dailies and news agencies that President Musharraf is on his way out in the wake of the opposition Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) joining hands to form a coalition at the centre and in three of the four provinces of Pakistan, Major General (retired) Qureshi said that President Musharraf has been elected to a new five-year term last year by Pakistani lawmakers, "not by any senator from the United States."

"So, I don't think he needs to respond to anything that is said by these people," a news agency quoted him, as saying. (ANI)
