Nadal, Federer advance to last 16 at Wimbledon

Rafael NadalLondon, June 29 - World No. 1 Rafael Nadal and Swiss tennis ace Roger Federer advanced to the last 16 at Wimbledon after defeating Kazakhstan's Mikhail Kukushkin and Colombia's Santiago Giraldo respectively.

Nadal came through 6-7 (4-7), 6-1, 6-1, 6-1 under the Centre Court roof as rain stopped play elsewhere at the All England Club, while Federer advanced to the fourth round with a 6-3, 6-1, 6-3 win over Giraldo.

According to the BBC, Nadal will next face Australian teenage wildcard Nick Kyrgios, who defeated Czech Republic's Jiri Vesely 3-6, 6-3, 7-5, 6-2, while Federe would either face 15th seed Jerzy Janowicz of Poland or Spain's Tommy Robredo in the fourth round on Monday.

Canadian eighth seed Milos Raonic also advanced after defeating Poland's Lukasz Kubot 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-4), 6-2.

Nadal said that the body is feeling fine, adding that he finished all his matches playing better than when he started and that is very positive.

Nadal said that he is very happy to be in the second week after two years losing in the first and second rounds, adding that he is fighting for every ball and playing to find right solutions in every game.

Meanwhile, Federer said that he got off to a good start and broke early and stayed in control until midway through the third when Giraldo had a couple of break points against him, but added that he got out.

Federer added that he is happy, it was a good match but he is aware of the tough draws and the grass plays differently in the second week, but he is happy to make it there. (ANI)
