NASA announces its new programs
NASA has announced its plans for the next few years. It has announced it next five year's plans, programs of research and space missions and corresponding budgets. NASA has decided to diversify its focus to the missions to the international SpaceStation and flight beyond Earth's orbit in future. Certain new initiatives are expected to be included in the NASA's plan list.
It has also decided to work on the Flagship Technology Demonstrations soon. In other new technologies it is going to research on projects like orbital fuel depots, inflatable habitats and use of planetary atmospheres instead of rockets for braking etc. These programs are estimated to cost NASA around $6 billion over the next five years.
NASA has decided to provide $5.8 billion to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida over the same period to develop a commercial program for carrying cargo and astronauts to the space station. $3.1 billion will be utilized in heavy lift propulsion research and new rockets. This can lift the large payloads needed for deep space exploration.
