Nehru Cup likely to get postponed

Nehru CupThe Nehru Cup is likely to get postponed as Ambedkar Stadium will host ceremony of the Independence Day on August 15 while Nehru Cup is scheduled to begin just three days after the ceremony.

All India Football Federation (AIFF) acting president, Praful Patel has called Municipal Commissioner of Delhi, K. S. Mehra for a meeting on the issue of turf of the Ambedkar Stadium which could be damaged during the Independence Day celebrations.

Although, the organizers of the tournament claimed that the ground would be ready for the tournament even though a temporary structure has been constructed in the ground along with rehearsals for the national event on 15th August.

The speculations have been making rounds in media circles that the Nehru Cup will be postponed for few days during the meeting of Mr. Praful and Mr. Mehra, which will be also attended by Indian FA general secretary, Alberto Colaco and representatives from ONGC, title sponsor of Nehru Cup.
