Netherlands dumps New Zealand 3-1 in Hockey World CupNetherlands has defeated New Zealand by 3-1 in the second match of the Pool A on the fourth day of the Hockey World Cup (HWC) at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in New Delhi on Wednesday.

New Zealand’s Phillip Burrows scored the first goal of the match in the first minute but Ronald Brouwer of Netherlands smashed ball into the nets in the second minute of the match to level the score.

Dutch Drag-flicker Taeke Taekema slammed second goal to take his team to 2-1 lead in the eighth minute of the match. Taeke has scored four goals in the tournament and he is now sharing fourth position with his compatriot Floris Jan Bovelander in the list of highest goal scorer in the World Cup with 17 goals.

Jeroen Hertzberger scored the third goal for the Dutch as Netherlands ended first half of the match with 3-1 lead. Both teams failed to score any goal in the second half of match and Netherlands won the match by 3-1.
