Regular Workout Can Help Lessen Anxiety Symptoms!

Regular Workout Can Help Lessen Anxiety Symptoms!Regular work out can significantly lessen anxiety symptoms in patients suffering from chronic disease, a new University of Georgia research showed.

In the research, released in the Feb. 22 version of the Archives of Internal Medicine, scientists examined the outcome of 40 randomized clinical experiments comprising around 3,000 patients with different medical conditions.

The researchers discovered that, on average, patients who worked out on a regular basis reported a 20% drop in anxiety symptoms as compared to those who did not work out.

Study's lead author Matthew Herring, a doctoral student in the department of kinesiology, part of the UGA College of Education, said, "Our findings add to the growing body of evidence that physical activities such as walking or weight lifting may turn out to be the best medicine that physicians can prescribe to help their patients feel less anxious."

The patients in the research suffered from different conditions like heart problem, multiple sclerosis, cancer and chronic pain from arthritis. (With Input from Agencies)
