Maruti Suzuki will cut on the delivery time by 2010-11Maruti Suzuki, the automaker which the every second car being sold in the country, is now planning to cut on the long delivery period of a vehicle by establishing stockyards across the country. Till date, the company has a single stockyard in Gurgaon from where it manages all its logistics.

The experts believe that these stockyards will help the company manage its logistics in an efficient manner. The company is planning to spend a whopping Rs. 200 crore on establishing such stockyards in each of the 16 cities where the automaker holds its regional offices.

The company also has similar plans for establishing model showrooms across the country.

Maruti Suzuki has only one such showroom in Delhi where its entire product portfolio is available for the consumer on display. The company believes that it will be able to cut on the long delivery time once the stockyards are operational.

In fact, the country's largest automaker has bullish plans of establishing an independent R&D unit for which it plans to take the headcount of its R&D personnel to as high as 1,450 which is today around the 1,000 level.
