BAE-SystemsIt has been announced by BAE Systems that it will lead a team working to upgrade the U. S. Navy's Distributed Common Ground System.

It was reported that BAE received the contract from the Navy Program Executive Officer, Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence to lead a team that includes General Dynamics, Sun Microsystems, MTCSC, Space Dynamics Laboratory, InVisM, Argon ST and Athena Consulting.

The BAE team will work with the Navy to make the intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and targeting system data accessible and understandable for the DCGS-Navy, the Defense Department's interoperable multi-source intelligence system.

A release has said that as part of the $72 million contract, the BAE team's ISR&T development will support the transition of the DCGS-Navy to a "Prime Mission Product."

John Jarman, BAE Systems vice president and general manager of defense systems and solutions, said in a statement, "An integrated system will enable the Navy to maintain information dominance in any battle space by accelerating its ability to exchange information and data across multiple security domains, warfare areas, environments and theaters."
