Google editions soon to make a debut

Google-EditionsGoogle Inc. has confirmed that Google Editions is posed to be released this summer.

The Google editions that speak of 'buy anywhere, read anywhere' e-book service, allows one to browse, purchase and download eBooks from any browser.

This proclamation was pronounced at Frankfurt Book Fair '09, pointing on the fact that the service will have close to half a million eBooks, by late June or July. Chris Palma, Google's manager of strategic-partner development, stated that the Amazon-like eBook store concept will have 5,00,000 eBooks. In case of revenue distribution publishers get to enjoy 63 percent of income from the eBooks sold while the rest stays with Google.

Explain the multi-diverse format Palma added, one can purchase eBooks from Amazon as well as Barnes & Nobles through Google Editions. Here, the publisher gets just 45 percent while Google scores the remaining 55 percent of income. Also, independent book retailers can lend a hand with their copy of editions.

This may be move towards a strong competition market that Google is offering against its rivals especially, Apple who is anticipating high growth of its iBook Store.
