Exports fall 4.7% in fiscal year 2010
As per the recent reports, the performance of several sectors in the country is not up to that mark. The annual trade figures for the financial year 2009-10 has been out and according to this report the recession is still having its effect in some of the segments.
The exports figures of the country have fallen down by 4.7% in this fiscal year 2010. Due to this disappointing show, the Commerce Ministry has ordered to find out the sectoral review of various sections for the second time in the year. This will be done much before the scheduled time.
The Commerce Industry has asked the reports again to find out the sectors which need further incentives to survive in such a critical situation. Commerce Minister Anand Sharma has informed that his Ministry is in the process of reviewing the several sectors. After the final result some sectors will be getting incentives.
The policy is soon to be improvised. Exports have stood at $176.5 billion for the financial year 2009-10. Sectors like engineering and electronic goods, textiles, leather and handicrafts are yet to come back on track.
