TNT to separate Express and Mail units
The delivery group TNT has declared that it is going to divide its Express and Mail units in to separate companies. The firm has announced that it would run the Express and Mail units as separate companies from next year.
Another decision on sales and market flotation could be taken in the future if required. This was announced at the time when the firm TNT reported its profit of 3 million euros for the second quarter of the year.
This was a huge fall in its profit as the firm reported a profit of 81 million euros in the same time period just a year ago.
According to the firm TNT, this fall in profit was caused by a charge of 168 million euros associated with job cuts and significant one-offs. The job cuts had affected the full time mail workers of the company and caused the big fall in the company's profit.
This decision of separation came because the firm wanted to challenge its US rivals like UPS and FedEx. The share price of the firm TNT fell down by 3.69% in the trading on Monday.
