SMEs – the refreshed focus for Tata Communications
As its dreams of making it big in the broadband segment were soon on the floor due to the lack of wireless spectrum in the country, it is to be mentioned here that Tata Communications is now busy redrawing its plans for the SMEs sector.
There is no denying the fact that the SME sector has a lot of potential to grow and the company is rightfully trying to cash-in on the same. Vinod Kumar, president and chief operating officer at Tata Communications recently said that beyond a certain limit it does not makes business sense to buy spectrum and hence it would be a driver for loss if the company goes for the deal.
Moreover, Kumar also mentioned the fact that the company has now replaced its focus from consumer broadband and is now planning to focus on the small and medium businesses in the immediate term.
Some analysts said on the conditions on anonymity that the company has recently tasted sour grapes and many of them have seven stopped tracking the company mainly because of the uncertainty in its plans since 2007.
