Acer ahs announced its new TravelMate 8481 laptop featuring a slim and light design with a powerful set of components.

The TravelMate 8481 is designed for professionals who spend a lot of time traveling and offers a host of business-oriented features. It features a 14in display with a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels and is powered by Intel Core-series processors. It comes with 8GB of RAM and a 320GB hard drive and the users can also opt for 64GB SSD.

The Optimus technology allows graphics from nVidia to switch from a dedicated GPU and the integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 chip, automatically. The Intel graphics' provision of Wireless Display technology allows the laptop to directly connect to a compatible projector or monitor without the need to be connected with wires.

It offers Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a USB 3.0 port, in addition to 'Power-Off USB Charging’ among other connectivity options. The laptop runs for upto nine hours with a single charge.

The 8481 has a magnesium-aluminium chassis and it also has an anti-shock hard drive enclosure, and an anti-dust system, aimed at keeping the cooling systems clear and effective.

The TravelMate 8481 will be available in August for about £840 in the UK.
