Automotive giant, Ford has announced the launch of its new EcoSport sports utility vehicle (SUV) in the Chinese market.

The company is planning to offer a total of six models in the Chinese market including the 1.0L EcoBoost model. Ford EcoSport is being produced by ford along with its Chinese partner, Chang’an and will be an enhanced version than the one launched in the Brazilian market. The Chang’an-Ford joint venture will produce the vehicle for the Chinese market.

The vehicle will measure 4,280mm in length, 1,785mm in width and will be 1,658mm in height. The model offered in China will be based on 2,530mm wheelbase. Ford EcoSport will be the SUV launched by the company in the Chinese market after Ford Kuga, which was launched in the country in January.

Ford is offering two engines including a 1.5 liter four cylinder with 110hp and 140nm, or a turbocharged 1.0 three-cylinder with 125hp and 170nm. The vehicle will come with 1.5 transmission with either 5-speed manual or a 6-speed ‘PowerShift’ DCT. The new SUV is aimed at young car buyers in the Chinese market.

The Ford EcoSport SUV is priced between 94,800RMB to 127,800RMB in the country.
