Phnom Penh  - A Cambodian monk was arrested and charged after allegedly raping and robbing a female British backpacker Tuesday, national media reported Wednesday.

Police said the 17-year-old monk admitted to raping the woman at a resort town in the country's north-west and stealing her mobile phone, passport, camera, credit cards and cash, the Phnom Penh Post reported.

The 39-year-old woman was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. (dpa)
