North Miami Senior High School principle reassigned for defending Texas cop in pool party incident

On Wednesday, the Miami-Dade County school district said that the principal of a South Florida high school has been removed from his position and reassigned to administrative duties.

Alberto Iber, principal of North Miami Senior High School removed from his position after he expressed online support on a story about the Texas incident in which a police officer who waved a gun at black teens while responding to a call about a wild pool party.

A white officer David Eric Casebolt was captured on video Friday evening wrestling a teenage girl to the ground. He pointed his gun at two other teens while answering a disturbance call at party at a neighborhood pool in suburban Dallas.

The video of Casebolt responding to the pool incident was published Saturday and immediately went viral. It is among the latest in a string of encounters that have sparked charges of abusive police treatment of minorities. Casebolt was suspended On Sunday and was put under investigation.

On the Miami Herald's website public post, that Officer David Eric Casebolt did nothing wrong and was afraid for his life. The post included his Facebook picture, name, school and title. However, Iber expressed his apologies to people who were upset by his option.

Superintendent of Schools Alberto Carvalho said, "Judgment is the currency of honesty. Insensitivity, intentional or perceived is both unacceptable and inconsistent with our policies, but more importantly with our expectation of common sense behavior that elevates the dignity and humanity of all, beginning with children".
