Obsidian Entertainment’s Project Eternity title hits $674,000 on Kickstarter
With Obsidian Entertainment revealing in a Friday announcement that it is trying to raise a $1.1 million funding - on the Kickstarter crowd-funding site – for its new role-playing game (RPG) dubbed ‘Project Eternity’, recent reports indicate that the game has already hit $674,000 from nearly 16,000 backers.
Since there are still 31 days to go for the end of the Kickstarter funding round for ‘Project Eternity,’ it is quite apparent that Obsidian Entertainment is already well on its way to go past the initial $1.1 million funding goal.
With the news of the ‘Project Eternity’ launch on the Kickstarter crowd-funding site spreading rapidly as well as excitedly across the Twitter microblogging site, Obsidian Entertainment managed to raise $400,000 in funding from over 9,000 donors, within hours of its Kickstarter-funding announcement.
Meanwhile, with the ‘Project Eternity’ team comprising renowned designers like Chris Avellone, Tim Cain and Josh Sawyer – who all have ample experience in designing some of the best RPGs -, the Kickstarter Page of the game describes ‘Project Eternity’ as a game which will “recapture the magic, imagination, depth, and nostalgia of classic RPGs” which gamers have loved to play.
Noting that ‘Project Eternity’ will essentially add “the fun, intense combat and dungeon diving of Icewind Dale” to “the central hero, memorable companions and the epic exploration of Baldur’s Gate,” the Kickstarter Page of the game says that the title will finally tie the two experience together with “the emotional writing and mature thematic exploration of Planescape: Torment.”
