Blantyre, Malawi  - Bingu wa Mutharika has been re-elected Malawi's president for another five years, Malawi Electoral Commission Chairwoman Anastasia Msosa announced early Friday.

With votes counted from 93.25 per cent of voting stations, Muthairka easily won Tuesday's presidential election with 2,730,630 votes against 1,270,057 votes for his nearest rival, opposition leader John Tembo. (dpa)
