Palin angry many loyal supporters by endorsing a Republican Senate candidateObservers have said that Sarah Palin went her own way Thursday endorsing a Republican Senate candidate in California, angering many of her loyal supporters.

CNN has reported that breaking ranks with the conservative movement, Palin threw her support behind former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina in California's Senate primary rather than endorsing the more conservative candidate, Assemblyman Chuck DeVore.

CNN also said that DeVore has garnered support from several figures of the conservative movement including Republican Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina and has been backed by the Tea Party Express.

Many Palin supporters expressed their disappointment on Palin's Facebook page.

Rick Sheridan posted, "This is very, very disappointing. Sarah, you've got to be more careful. This woman does not represent conservative values. And the choice is so clear. Serious damage has been done to your base here."

It was also reported by CNN that former Rep. Tom Campbell is also in the primary race and maintains a lead over both Fiorina and DeVore in recent polls.

The victor will take on Sen. Barbara Boxer in the general election.

Palin explained her decision in a Facebook posting, with a slam at Campbell.

Palin has posted, "I'm a huge proponent of contested primaries, so I'm glad to see the contest in California's GOP, but I support Carly as she fights through a tough primary against a liberal member of the GOP who seems to bear almost no difference to Boxer, one of the most leftwing members of the Senate."
