According to the sources, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's contract to speak at Cal State Stanislaus calls for a $75,000 fee, bottled water and "bendable straws."

The Los Angeles Times reported on Friday that two unnamed California State University sources speaking on condition of anonymity who allege to have seen the contract say along with the fee to be paid in two installments of $37,500 each, are expenses for air fare, hotel and transportation yet to be calculated.

The Times also said that Matt Swanson, president of the Cal State Stanislaus Foundation, would not confirm the disclosure, nor would officials in the California State University chancellor's office in Long Beach or the Stanislaus campus.

Representatives from the Washington Speakers Bureau, the Virginia group that represents Palin, did not return a call seeking comment.

It was also reported that state Sen. Leland Yee, D-San Francisco, has been advocating legislation, SB 330, which would require university foundations like the one at Stanislaus to stick to the California Records Act and not withhold documents from the public.

The Times further said that some Stanislaus students claim to have found in a campus dumpster a portion of Palin's contract that includes requirements calling for plenty of bottled water and "bendable straws."

Yee said in response to the fee disclosure, "It's rather disappointing that Sarah Palin is asking for nearly $100,000 to speak at this anniversary event when we're looking at state increases in student fees, cancellations of classes and the fact that this money could be going to scholarships. She could do wonders for all of us … by taking this money and donating it back to the foundation." (With Inputs from Agencies)
