London, Sep 21 - Veteran actress Helen Mirren says the recent London riots were "terrifying". She even compared the looting of shops and setting fire to buildings to "cannibalism".
"It was terrifying. There was a rush of crazed adrenaline and everyone... got caught up in it. We're a funny, complicated country, Britain, there's a streak of savagery and this was like cannibalism, society eating itself in a way," dailystar. co. uk quoted Mirren as saying.
Mirren against youngsters getting plastic surgery

London, Aug 29 - Veteran actor Helen Mirren says she is against young people going under the knife and finds it horrific.
"The only thing I don't like on young people is plastic surgery," Mirren told InStyle magazine.

Helen Mirren is disappointed with Hollywood's practice of casting British actors in negative roles only.
She said in a statement that it's very unfortunate that villain in every movie is always a British. During an event to celebrate the British success in Hollywood, she said that Britons are easy targets to be cast as villains.

London, Aug 7 : When Brit actress Helen Mirren's husband, Taylor Hackford, first saw her dressed up as British monarch Queen Elizabeth II in a movie role, he was so shocked that he burst out laughing.
Mirren, 64, had even won an Oscar for her portrayal of the royal in 2006 movie `The Queen', but her husband had never seen her in the costume that gave her the monarch's looks until he watched the film's premiere.

Helen Mirren returns to Russian roots in Tolstoy film project

"When I was trying on the costumes, I felt like my Russian great-aunt," quipped Dame Helen, who was born Ilyena Vasilievna Mironov.
She grew up in London and her father, son of a Russian nobleman, later changed the family name to Mirren.
Though the film is set in Russia, the German producers are doing much of the shooting at similar looking locations in Saxony Anhalt, a provincial region in eastern Germany.
