Lata, Salman, Rekha may attend Modi's swearing-in ceremony

Salman-Khan-Lata-MangeshkarMumbai, May 23 : Several Bollywood personalities are likely to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi and his cabinet at Rashtrapati Bhavan Monday, according to sources.

Among the prominent names, who have reportedly been invited, is Lata Mangeshkar who in January this year blessed Modi in Mumbai and wished him all success in his endeavours.

Others include superstar Salman Khan, who met Modi in Ahmedabad during the kite flying festival for a film promotion a few months ago.

Anmol Jaswal, Nirvesh Sudhanshubhai Dave, Debanjana Karmakar, Sonakshi Kar, Akash Sharma, Anjana Padmanabhan, Aryan Das, Priyam Borpatra Gohain, Sankalp Yaduwanshi, Eman Chaudhar and Sugandha Amol Date are vying for the title.

The 83-year-old shared her views through her tweets on the microblogging site Twitter.

Shamshad-BegumMumbai, April 24 : Condoling the death of legendary playback singer Shamshad Begum, megastar Amitabh Bachchan said the industry had lost its "golden voice", while Lata Mangeshkar remembered her as a "nice and happy soul".

Shamshad Begum, who had been ailing for the past few months, died Tuesday. She was 94.

"The golden voice of Shamshad Begum, playback singer of great eminence in some of the most historic film songs... now silent... RIP," Big B tweeted.

"Cinema has changed a lot from the times when we used to work. I will not say that it's not good, but I don't fit into it. If I would sing in any film today, then I don't think I will be able to sing it beautifully," said the 83-year-old singer here Monday at an event organised to announce the recipients of Dinanath Mangeshkar Awards.

Each month in the calendar ''Humsafar 2013'' has a photograph of an actress Mangeshkar has worked with, besides a short paragraph on her experience with the actresses.

Mangeshkar, who appeared in public after a hiatus, humoured mediapersons and interacted with audiences, who have been eagerly awaiting her next album.

She wished for a great year ahead, full of prosperity and joy.

The medal, created by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802, is awarded for exemplary service in military or civilian life. The award can be conferred on a French national or a foreigner for outstanding contributions in their field of work.

Mangeshkar was conferred with the award for her incredible contribution to Indian music.
