‘India matching China in border infrastructure’

Meghalaya bans visit by Assam MinistersShillong, Sep 30 : Minister of State for Defence Pallam Raju today said India is building infrastructure along the Indo-China border to match the developments on the other side with the Centre approving a 1,850-km Trans Himalayan Highway in Arunachal Pradesh.

“Centre has approved the Trans-Himalayan highway which aims at providing inter basin double lane connectivity,” Raju told reporters in Shillong.

The Indian contingent comprises of nearly nine hundred personnel deployed in the UN peacekeeping operations.

Raju reviewed the contribution and role of Indian troops in the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). This is the first visit in more than five years by a Union Minister to any Indian peacekeeping mission abroad.

Raju will visit the Indian peacekeeping contingent of nearly 900 personnel. He will interact with officers and troops and review the contribution and role of Indian troops in the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). Major General B V Nair, Additional Director General (CW) will accompany him.

The Minister hoped that the cadets, who represent the India of the future, would keep the tricolour flying high and safeguard the hard fought freedom. He appreciated the cadets for their turnout, braving sweating heat and humidity.

New Delhi, Mar 18: Minister of state for Defence M.M. Pallam RajuMinister of state for Defence M. M. Pallam Raju will inaugurate a permanent DRDO exhibition ‘Darpan’ here on March 24.

Established at the Recruitment and Assessment Centre (RAC), the exhibition will showcase the Development of Strategic Systems, S&T achievements and outstanding services of DRDO dedicated to the nation in pursuance of self reliance.

The direct beneficiaries of the exhibition will be scientists visiting RAC for their assessments, young scientists/engineers aspiring to join DRDO and appearing for interviews at RAC.
