Sydney - An Australian woman who may know something about the 2007 disappearance of British toddler Madeleine McCann in Portugal is being sought in Australia.
Police in Sydney said Saturday that they had received information about a woman who is similar in description to an Australian being sought by private investigators engaged by the McCann family.

London - British police have spent nearly 750,000 pounds (1.27 million dollars) in the search for Madeleine McCann since the toddler went missing in a resort in Portugal in May, 2007, figures released Monday showed.
No trace has been found of the girl, who would have celebrated her 6th birthday in May, and whose fate prompted a massive international police hunt accompanied by a vociferous campaign by her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann.

Kate and Gerry McCann, who have been accused of killing their daughter, have admitted that their four year-old daughter’s DNA was found in a car they hired 25 days after she went missing in May this year during a holiday in Portugal.
However, it looks like Madeleine’s DNA was transferred into the car when the McCanns hastily left their apartment in the Algarve resort of Praia da Luz.
They were moving into a nearby apartment and did not want to reveal the location.
Some items were packed in suitcases and others were put in plastic bags or scattered across the back of the car.

An anonymous e-mail sent to the Prince’s website says that the Brit toddler, who went missing during a family vacation in Portugal in May, was kidnapped by an angry ex-employee.
The informer claimed that a maid sacked from the Mark Warner Ocean Club holiday resort made way with the three-year-old in a revenge plot.
