Surat, Feb 14, : Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said Dr. Manmohan Singh would be his prime ministerial candidate in the upcoming elections.
"I have answered this question many times in the past. My prime ministerial candidate for the coming Lok Sabha elections is Dr. Manmohan Singh," Rahul Gandhi said.
United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi had virtually declared last week that Dr. Singh would be the Prime Minister for another term if the party comes to power again.
Abohar, Feb. 10: The Punjabi Durbar programme of Radio Pakistan has been trying to propagate that the Government of India, headed by the Dr. Manmohan Singh, has an agenda to uproot Sikhism and Islam.
The allegation have surprised local residents in Abohar who cannot believe that a Sikh could have an agenda of destroying Sikhism.
New Delhi, Feb 8 : Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh sent a message to the Congress'' conclave of district and block presidents at New Delhi on Sunday, encouraging his party men to meet the "political challenges that lie ahead".
Urging party cadres to actively participate in the elections, he said, "With elections round the corner, you are once again called upon to carry our party''s message and the government''s accomplishments to each and every voter throughout the country."
Putrajaya, Feb. 6 : Malay Indian and the chairman of the Nam Fatt Corporation Bhd, Ajit Singh, who features in the list of 20 most prominent Indians living abroad, has been appointed as a member of the newly constituted Indian Global Advisory Council, chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The Indian High Commission released a press statement on Thursday saying that Ajit Singh was picked for his experience as a distinguished diplomat who had served in various positions in Malaysian missions abroad and the Malaysian Foreign Ministry as well as due to his experience as ASEAN's first Secretary-General, The Star reported.
New Delhi - Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was discharged from a New Delhi hospital Sunday, a week after undergoing heart bypass surgery, officials said.
Singh, 76,, left the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, the country's top state-run hospital, on Sunday morning and reached his official residence in central Delhi.
"The prime minister was cheerful and in fact he was walking. He is on his way to recovery," India's Federal Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss told reporters.
