Srinagar, Oct 8 : Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will flag off the first train connecting Srinagar to central Kashmir during his two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.

According to official sources, Dr. Singh will flag off the first train from Nowgam to Budgam.

Dr. Singh will board the Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) train from Nowgam station as a symbolic gesture.

New Delhi, Oct 7 : In a gesture of solidarity with the Palestinian cause, India gifted a piece of prized real estate in the capital''s elite diplomatic enclave for building the embassy of the Palestinian National Authority and announced 20 million US dollars as budgetary support on Tuesday.

During a function organized at the ground of the proposed chancery-cum-residence complex at Chanakyapuri in Delhi, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh reiterated India''s unwavering solidarity and commitment to an independent Palestine.

New Delhi, Oct 7 : Palestinian National Authority President Mahmoud Abbas met Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh here today to discuss the issues related to West Asia peace process.

Later, an agreement on the construction and equipping of a school in the name of Jawahara Lal Nehru in Abu Dees in Palestine was signed.

Earlier, speaking to reporters after his ceremonial reception at the Rashtrapati Bhawan this morning the visiting dignitary expressed gratitude to India for its steadfast support for the Palestinian cause.

He also laid the foundation stone of the Chancery-cum-Residence complex of the Embassy of Palestine, being built in New Delhi as a gift of the Government and the people of India.

The fundamentalist Hindu body, RSS has accused the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for helping US in the wake of current economic crisis in the country. 

The union government is planning to buy US Treasury bills worth Rs 56,000 crore for US economy bailout. The plans in this regard were prepared during the recent visit of the prime minister to the US under the Liquidity Adjustment Facility (LAF). 

The apex bank would issue bonds worth Rs 56,000 crore under LAF and invest the amount in US Treasury Bills.
