Monty Panesar

Disharmony in England dressing room responsible for Monty’s loss of form

Monty PanesarLondon, Apr. 10  Disharmony in the England dressing room is being touted as a factor for the loss in form of the team’s Sikh left arm spinner Monty Panesar.

Northampton County coach and former England fast bowler David Capel has come up with this damning statement.

The former all-rounder, 46, believes Panesar has struggled with the upheaval surround the change of captaincy, as well as the uncertainty surrounding the next England coach.

Broad and `muppet’ Panesar launch verbal assault on umpires

Trinidad (West Indies), Mar. 9 : England's frustration against the West Indies in the ongoing Fifth Test here, was summed up by withering verbal assaults about the pitch and umpires by all-rounder Stuart Broad and left arm spinner Monty Panesar.

Describing the playing surfaces in the West Indies as `terrible' after another barren day in which just three wickets fell in the Fifth Test, The Sun quoted Broad as saying: "It was a frustrating day. We bowled well as a unit and a few chances didn't go to hand and there were a few poor umpiring decisions."

Experts says Panesar’s sporting career spiralling downward

London, Dec. 17 : England left-arm spinner Monty Panesar's career is plunging towards crisis point following another poor showing for his team in the First Test against India in Chennai, the Sun reports.

Panesar failed to take a wicket in 27 overs in India's second innings despite operating on a pitch that was tailor-made for him. He was attacked for his performance by a string of cricket legends, including Ian Botham, Geoff Boycott and Shane Warne.

Experts believe that his bowling has gone backwards during the past year and he cannot think on his feet, decide what pace to bowl or even set his own field. He does not appear to know the laws, either, judging by some of his leg before wicket appeals.

Panesar has not learned a thing in Test cricket: Boycott

Geoffrey BoycottLondon, Dec. 16 : Former England captain and opener Geoffrey Boycott is of the view that left-arm spinner Monty Panesar has not learnt a thing while playing top flight cricket, particularly in test cricket.

Recalling former Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne's making this comment last year, Boycott endorsed it, and said Panesar and the current squad would do well to take a few lessons from their defeat against India in the first of two Tests that ended in Chennai on Monday.

"He (Warne) basically said Panesar has not learned a thing in Test cricket," said Boycott.

Panesar was robotic, but Tendulkar was master class

Monty PanesarLondon, Dec. 16 : England's Sikh left-arm spinner Monty Panesar was just too robotic and unwilling to try anything different, including going round the wicket to the left hander to explore a different angle, says former England fast bowler Simon Hughes.

As opposed to Panesar, debutant Graeme Swann was more versatile and more threatening.

Hughes goes on to say that Sachin Tendulkar was master class all the way.
