Raiwind, Aug 2 : PML-N leader and former premier Nawaz Sharif has said that his country won’t allow itself to become a colony of the US. He also said that President Pervez Musharraf’s shadow was soon going to vanish from the country’s horizon.
He said the country was currently facing the worst crisis in its history.
“We need co-operation from the people at this juncture. The nation had showered love on us and we would honour it,” the Daily Times quoted him as saying.
Islamabad, July 31: Senior PML-N leader and former premier Nawaz Sharif’s statement on Tuesday that he will soon be having decisive talks with PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari is being debated as an important development in Pakistan politics. While some dismiss it as simple rhetoric (because Nawaz is aware of the fact that parting ways with the PPP would spell a doom for his brother’s Punjab government), others are attaching meanings to it saying it might be an end to PPP-PML(N) federal coalition.
Lahore, July 30: PML-N leader and former Pakistan premier, Nawaz Sharif has said that he would meet PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari in the next few days to hold the final round of talks over the issues of judges’ reinstatement and impeachment of President Pervez Musharraf.
He said that it was high time to hold decisive talks with the ruling party, as the mandate given on Feb 18 had not been translated into reality until now.
London, July 26 : Meeting between Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader and former premier Nawaz Sharif in London is unlikely to take place here.
According to The Nation, Sharif is getting ready for a brief visit to some other European country from where he will set off for Pakistan.
Prime Minister Gilani is reaching London on Sunday night.
“Neither has the Prime Minister expressed any desire for a meeting, nor has any such event been scheduled,” said a spokesman of the PML-N.
Islamabad, July 22 : The Pakistan Muslim League-(Nawaz) PML-(N) has warned the Pakistan Peoples Party led Government to take concrete steps by August 15 on four critical issues, including restoration of the deposed judges and impeachment of Musharraf, or else it would withdraw its support to the Government.
The implementation of the Charter of Democracy and the review of the policy on the war against terrorism are two other issues that the PML-N is keen to take up with the Government.
