Oliver Stone set for Wall Street remake: Greed is Good Los Angeles - Oliver Stone is to remake his 1987 hit Wall Street and has lined up Michael Douglas to reprise his Oscar winning role as corrupt financier Gordon Gecko, 20th Century Fox has announced.

According to the announcement the sequel will unfold against the background of the recent economic meltdown in which a young Wall Street trader confronts the rampant greed and corruption that led to the meltdown.

The role Gekko's apprentice, which was filled by Charlie Sheen in the original, is set to go to Shia LaBeouf.

Douglas, who won an Oscar for the original film, is set to reprise his Gordon Gekko's role.

Actor Shia LaBeouf is also in talks to star in the remake titled `Wall Street 2', reports Variety.

The sequel will once again involve a young Wall Street trader, and the recent economic meltdown spurred by rampant greed and corruption will fit prominently into the plot.

Evita, the former actress and second wife of President Juan Domingo Peron, is revered in Argentina, which is particularly sensitive to criticism from outsiders.

Stone had written the film script for Evita, the musical starring Madonna in the lead role.

The director also said that "Peronists have no sense of humour" and appears to have been justified by what happened next.

Washington, Dec 11 : After making a biopic on George W. Bush, American filmmaker Oliver Stone is planning to helm a documentary on Venezuela's controversial President Hugo Chavez.

The 62-year-old director has been working on the untitled project for six months and is hoping to have it ready for next year, reports Variety.

Stone was with Chavez in February during the dramatic rescue of hostages that Chavez helped to broker from the militant Columbian FARC group.

The will focus on the opposition faced by Chavez at home and abroad, especially from the Bush administration, which has been vocal in its distaste for the populist socialism espoused by Venezuela''s president.
