The British Queen had to mark the Christmas day without the Duke of Edinburgh on her side as he is recovering from an emergency heart surgery.
The queen had visited her husband at Papworth Hospital near Cambridge along with other members of the Royal family. She was accompanies by Earl of Wessex, The Princess Royal and the Duke of York. The Prince of Wales and his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall were also reported to have visited their grandfather.

London, Nov 7 : Hindu leaders in Britain have teamed up with Prince Philip and the UN to launch a long-term action plan that will engage with the community worldwide in the fight against climate change, an Oxford University centre said.
The Bhumi Project was launched Friday after a three-way meeting between Hindu leaders, Prince Philip - the husband of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II - and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon as part of this week's environmental summit at Windsor Castle, attended by over 200 faith leaders from nine major world religions.

London, Oct. 27 : Duke of Edinburgh Prince Phillip''s wisecracks have landed him in hot water again.
According to The Sun, Prince Philip joked with British-Indian business leader Atul Patel about his name during a reception at Buckingham Palace for visiting Indian President Pratibha Devisingh Patil.
As guests lined up to meet Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth, the 88-year-old royal greeted Atul Patel by saying: "There''s a lot of your family in tonight."
The comment suggested that all Patels are related.
War veterans and royals commemorate WWII liberation in Netherlands

Amsterdam - Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, Britain's Prince Philip and World War II veterans were due to attend a ceremony Sunday to mark the 65th anniversary of the liberation of the Dutch city of Nijmegen from German occupation.
The ceremony was among a host of events commemorating the liberation of the Netherlands that began on September 17, 1944 with the landing of thousands of British, Polish and American troops in the south-east of the country.

London, Apr 18 : Prince Philip has become the longest serving royal consort in Britain after he took duties in 1952.
The Duke of Edinburgh''s became the consort on February 6, 1952, when his wife Princess Elizabeth was crowned as Queen.
And now, he has surpassed the record of 57 years and 70 days set by Queen Charlotte, wife of King George III.
Known for his aversion to any kind of fuss, the 87-year-old Duke is with the Queen at Windsor Castle this weekend, and has no planned official engagements.
British royals "furious" about bonfire in Windsor Castle grounds

London - Britain's Prince Philip was Tuesday reported to be furious with forestry workers at Windsor Castle who let a bonfire burn out of control, forcing them to make an emergency call to the fire brigade.
The Duke of Edinburgh, 87, who is Ranger of Windsor Great Park, the large estate and game park surrounding the caste, had asked staff to get rid of a large pile of logs.

London, Nov 3 : Prince Philip, who has a long history of provoking embarrassing moments, found himself in another jiffy after getting caught short on a shooting party.
The 87-year-old royal was leading the party at Sandringham, the Queen’s Norfolk estate, when he undid his trousers and let nature take its course in full public view.
“It was an amazing sight. Those dark glasses didn’t fool anyone and he was caught red-handed with his finger on the trigger,” the Daily Star quoted a passer-by as saying.
“I guess you’ve got to go when you feel the urge – even if you’re a royal.

London- Known for not mincing his words, British Prince Philip, husband to Queen Elizabeth II, told government representatives to "fuck off" after the death of Princess Diana in 1997, a new book revealed Saturday.
The book Tony's Ten Years: Memoirs of the Blair Administration by TV journalist Adam Boulton reports that the royal family was incensed about Downing Street's response to the death and their micro- management of the funeral.

Taking a lead from the Max Mosley sex case, the Duke took action over an alleged invasion of privacy related to the family''s personal health, and hopes to prevent the media from reporting details of the royals'' private lives.

London - Britain's Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were Tuesday leaving for a four-day state visit to Turkey, their first to the country since 1971.
The royal trip follows an invitation from President Abdullah Gul and comes more than 36 years after the British monarch and Prince Philip last visited the secular Islamic republic.
The Queen, 82, and the Duke, who is 86, will lay a wreath at the tomb of Kemal Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey, in the capital Ankara, Tuesday.
