Prachanda meets Ban Ki-moon

New York, Sept 28 : Nepal Prime Minister Prachanda met Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon at the UN Headquarters here on Saturday. 

According to the Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations, the UN Secretary General assured of the United Nations'' continued support in the days ahead and expressed his readiness to assist in the socio-economic development in Nepal. 

He also appreciated Nepal''s continued participation in the UN peacekeeping operations while Prachanda reiterated Nepal''s commitment to continue providing troops to UN peacekeeping missions at the call of the UN.

Nepal keen to build partnership with international community, says Prachanda

Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal DahalNew York, Sept 27: Nepal Prime Minister Prachanda stated at the UN General Assembly that Nepal government would build partnership with the international community to create an atmosphere for a new socio-economic transformation in Nepal.

Addressing the 63rd General Assembly on Friday, Prachanda said that Nepal is committed to restore peace and order, and unleash socio-economic transformation. He said the formal end of the monarchy was a new opportunity to transform 'old feudalistic' state into a new federate Nepal.

Prachanda attends President Bush reception

Nepal Prime Minister PrachandaKathmandu, Sept 23: Nepal Prime Minister Prachanda attended a reception hosted by US President George W. Bush and Laura Bush on the ocassion of the sixty-third session of United Nations General Assembly in New York last evening.

Prachanda is leading a Nepali delegation to United Nations General Assembly.

Prachanda, who reached US via Germany also held meeting with Nepalis there. Non-Resident Nepali (NRN) in Germany held an interaction with Prachanda at a luncheon programme held by Nepali Ambassador to Germany Dr. Madan Kumar Bhattarai on Sunday.

Prachanda to visit Marx''s birthplace

Prachanda to visit Marx''s birthplaceKathmandu, Sept 21: Nepal Prime Minister Prachanda will visit the birthplace of Karl Marx, whose writings have inspired communist revolutions all over the world on September 30.

The house where Marx was born in 1818 was turned into the Museum-Karl-Marx-Haus in 1947 by Germany''s Social Democratic Party.

The museum houses a study centre with 80,000 volumes including the works of Marx and the spectrum of his reading, the history of socialism, socialist and workers'' movement as well as the social and economic history of the 19th century. 

Nepalese prime minister travels to US for UN General Assembly

left for New York to take part in the United Nations General Assembly.

The visit is his third foreign trip since he became the prime minister just over a month ago.

Dahal, a former rebel leader popularly known as Prachanda, will
address the UN General Assembly on Friday and is expected to attend the
banquet host by US President George W Bush in New York.

Speaking briefly to reporters, Dahal said he would put Nepal's views during his speech at the UN.

Prachanda to leave for United States today

Kathmandu, Sept 20 :Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias ''Prachanda'' will leave for the United States today where he will address the UN General Assembly in New York. 

"I am leaving for the US visit where I will address the UN General Assembly. I have also just received an invitation to attend a reception to be hosted there by the US president George Bush," said Prachanda in his address to the Constituent Assembly last night.
