Islamabad, Jan. 8 : Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that the UN probe team investigating Benazir Bhutto’s murder won’t be given access to military officials.
The News quoted Malik as saying that the Pakistan Government has told the UN Commission that the Pak Army has nothing to do with the Benazir assassination case.
Speaking on the military offensive against the Taliban, he said sweeping action would be launched against miscreants in North Waziristan Agency along with South Waziristan Agency.
Karachi blast that killed 42 on Muharram was not suicide attack: Pak investigators

Karachi, Jan. 5 : Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik has confirmed that the Asura blast, which killed 42 people in Karachi on December 28, was not a suicide attack.
On Monday, the Pakistani investigation team stated that the bomb was planted inside a box, which had the portrait of a killed leader of a banned religious outfit.
A complete report on the blast will be submitted within two to three days, The News quoted Malik, as saying.

Islamabad, Jan 4 : The blast in a Muharram procession in Karachi that claimed 25 lives was not a suicide attack, Pakistan's interior minister said Monday, adding that investigations into the incident were 80-85 percent complete and would be made known soon.
Speaking to reporters here after a review meeting on the Karachi situation, Interior Minister Rehman Malik said the city government was not found negligent in connection with the tragedy, Online news agency reported.

Islamabad, Jan. 2 : Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has denied the presence of controversial private US security firm, Blackwater, in Pakistan, adding that none of the firm's officials have been given Pakistani visas.
Malik also rebuffed reports about any deal between the Blackwater and the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI).
Speaking to the business community at the Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Malik said no such agency named Blackwater is working in the country.

Karachi, Jan. 2 : Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has admitted that law enforcement agencies in the country are incapable of handling wide scale unrest as they are ill-equipped and untrained to counter such activities.
Addressing businessmen at the Federation House here, Malik called on the business community of the country to help the government cater to the needs of the people and enhance the capacity and the capability of the security agencies.

Islamabad, Dec. 31: Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has once again blamed Indian intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), for fanning the ongoing armed insurgency in Balochistan.
Talking to media persons before a cabinet meeting in Gwadar, Malik accused New Delhi of trying to incite anti-Pakistan feelings among the Baloch people.
“The Pakistani government would frustrate all such plans by paying full attention to the problems of Balochistan,” The Daily Times quoted Malik, as saying.

Islamabad, Dec. 24 : Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that India should respect Pakistani courts, adding that Islamabad would not take notes from any country including New Delhi.
Referring to the issue of Jamaat-ud-Daawa chief, whom India considers as the main plotter of the Mumbai terror attacks, Malik said the case is in the court and the government will take action once there is new evidence against him.

“Allegations are always there, allegations are on our judiciary. Allegations are on our leadership. Well, fine. If the Supreme Court wants us to go a second time to the court, yes, we''''ll go, we''''ll clear it. Malik claims only 10 NRO cases pending against PPP leaders

Islamabad, Dec. 21 : Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has claimed that only 10 of the 8,442 cases withdrawn under the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) are against Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders.
“A total of 8,442 cases were withdrawn under the National Reconciliation Ordinance and in only 10 cases the accused belong to the PPP,” the Daily Times quoted Malik, as saying.
He added that the government respects the superior judiciary and would implement its verdict in letter and spirit.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had declared the NRO unconstitutional and void form the outset.
Pakistan court orders arrest of interior minister

Islamabad, Dec 18 : A Pakistani court has issued an arrest warrant against Interior Minister Rehman Malik.
The "accountability court" issued arrest warrants for Malik Friday, Geo TV reported. Judge Mir Muhammad Shaikh issued the warrants in a reference by National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The NAB is Pakistan's apex anti-corruption organisation. It is tasked with the responsibility of elimination of corruption. It takes cognizance of all offences falling within the National Accountability Ordinance (NAO). (IANS)

Islamabad, Dec. 17 : Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said the military operation against the Taliban in South Wazirisan has been conducted with “over 80 percent success” and it would be over soon.

Karachi, Dec. 14 : Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has reiterated that American private security agency Blackwater’s presence is limited to Afghanistan and Iraq only, and it is not active in Pakistan.
Malik claimed Pakistan had virtually broken the backbone of terrorists during the military offensive in Waziristan.
However, he added that the war against terrorism could not be won unless local traitors and political elements supporting terrorists were not identified and punished.

Lahore, Dec. 13 : Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik has claimed that Islamabad has rejected Pak Taliban chief Hakeemullah Mehsud’s offer for dialogue at least four times.
The Daily Times quoted Malik, as saying that there would be no talks with the Taliban until it agrees to fully abjure violence.
Malik added that the Taliban initiative was a good omen and he had contacted clerics to discuss the Taliban offer.

Islamabad, Dec. 12 : Porn films were recovered from various hideouts of the Taliban during raids conducted across South Waziristan, Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said.
Talking to media persons here, Malik blamed the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Al Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Jaish-e-Muhammad and other banned extremist organisations for the recent wave of terror attacks in the country.

Islamabad, Dec. 9 : Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has claimed that security forces have nabbed four trucks laden with Indian arms and ammunitions from Islamabad.
Interacting with media persons outside the Parliament house, Malik said Pakistan is not levelling charges against India about its involvement in terror activities in the country without any evidence, which has already been handed over to the Foreign Office.

Islamabad, Dec. 5 : In yet another attempt at accusing India of fanning terror inside Pakistan, Interior Minister Rehman Malik has claimed that security forces have captured truck loads of Indian arms and ammunition in the Bara region of North West Frontier Province (NWFP).
“Security forces have seized trucks from Bara (NWFP) with Indian branded ammunition,” Malik told media persons here.
Malik said Pakistan government does not believe in levelling allegations without any evidence, and added that it was evident that extremists in the country were getting ammunition from Afghanistan.

London, Nov. 30 : Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rehman Malik has rebutted speculations over his possible departure in an upcoming cabinet reshuffle as mere “rumours.”
“If I am working well or that if my leadership is not satisfied with my performance, the Prime Minister has the right to take decision on me. However, as far as I know and understanding given to me there is no such truth in these rumours,” The Nation quoted Malik, as saying during a news conference at his Central London residence.
