The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has sent a notice to ace Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar as he had not paid cess on a deluxe car purchased by him.
Mahavir Pendhari, NMMC's deputy municipal commissioner (Cess) stated, "We found that we have not received cess on over one lakh vehicles that are registered at the Navi Mumbai RTO. We got the addresses of the owners and have sent them legal notices."
The list of offenders comprises singer Shankar Mahadevan, Tripura Governor DY Patil and many big names from the corporate world including Reliance.

Embarrassed by its corporators attacking the hi-profile cricketer on his advertisement campaign to save water, the party on Thursday first disowned the corporators saying what they expressed was their personal view, but later said the media misquoted the civic leaders.
Sources said Sena corporators lashed out at Sachin as they were upset with the civic administration for not accepting the film script written by a corporator for the ‘Save Water’ campaign. But this has now put the party in a spot.
In November, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray had lashed out at the legendary cricketer for his alleged anti-Mumbai comments.

Mumbai, Jan 11 : Guess how master blaster Sachin Tendulkar bathes at home? By his own admission, using just a bucketful of water - to waste a minimum quantity of the precious liquid.
He made the admission while shooting for a half-minute social awareness message for Mumbaikars to save precious water. Mumbai suffered a monsoon deficit last year, and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has shot the clip to spread awareness among the Mumbai residents.
Sachin advised the people they must take only that quantity of water in a glass they require to drink and not waste it.
Tendulkar returns for two-Test series against Bangladesh

Chennai, Jan 5 :Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, who opted out of the ongoing tri-series against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, will return to the Indian team for the two-Test series against the hosts, which was announced here on Tuesday.
The team, which was selected for the series against Sri Lanka has been retained with just one change where fast bowler Sudeep Tyagi was included in place of S. Badrinath.
Wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik also makes a return along with Test regulars VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid.

Rohit Sharma has been named as a replacement for world batting record holder Sachin Tendulkar for the Bangladesh tri-series, to be played from January 4-13. The host Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are the two other teams in addition to India. The tri-series will be followed by a two-match Test series.

New Delhi, Dec 25 : Sachin Tendulkar has been rested while Rohit Sharma has been recalled for the tri-series cricket tournament in Bangladesh starting Jan 4.
Leg spinner Amit Mishra and pacer Ashok Dinda were also included in the 16-member squad while pacers Ishant Sharma, Praveen Kumar and left arm spinner Pragyan Ojha were left out.
Mishra has been out of favour after a lacklustre performance in the first Test against Sri Lanka at Ahmedabad. Dinda made his Twenty20 debut earlier this month.

Kolkata, Dec 23 : Cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly were Wednesday given lifetime passes by Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee to travel free in air-conditioned first class coaches with their families.
Banerjee handed over to the duo lifetime achievement cards at a function where Tendulkar was felicitated for completing 20 years in international cricket.
"We are giving Sachin lifetime achievement card from the railways. He and his family can now travel free all over India throughout life in AC first class coaches. We are giving similar lifetime achievement card to Sourav also," Banerjee said at the programme.

Middlesex to sign Tendulkar to play Twenty20 cricket in England

London, Nov 19 : England county team Middlesex is all set to sign master blaster Sachin Tendulkar to play Twenty20 cricket for them next season.
Former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist will also play Twenty20 cricket for Middlesex next season.
The deals would be part-funded by the MCC and would commit the players to five Twenty20 matches, all at Lord’s, The Guardian reports.
