India looking forward to resolve trade issues with Pakistan

Shah-Mehmood-QureshiIndia is hoping that Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will conduct a productive discussion with External Affairs Minister S M Krishna in the first quarter of 2011 and both the leaders can find out some solution for the ongoing trade related issues.

On Friday Krishna had received the confirmation from his counterpart Qureshi that he would come to New Delhi in the first quarter of 2011.

Moreover India’s interest can not be equal to the interest of Pakistan on the Afghan issue.

Islamabad, Jan. 9 : Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that the international community should continue supporting Islamabad’s efforts to build itself into a peaceful, modern state.

The Daily Times quoted Qureshi, as telling the representatives of missions from European countries, Canada and the US that the government was committed to make Pakistan a peaceful country and required developed countries’ continuous support for the purpose.

Qureshi added that peace and stability in Afghanistan is necessary for a stable Pakistan, and as the situations in the two countries are interlinked, Pakistan would continue playing a positive role in improving its relations with the neighbouring country.

“Our policy is neither pro-American nor anti-American. Every country has its own interests to safeguard and we are doing the same,” the Daily Times quoted Qureshi, as saying.

He added that the US Congress, which in the past used to point fingers at Pakistan, is now passing unanimous resolutions in favour of Islamabad.

The Daily Times quoted Qureshi as saying that India was supporting insurgents in Pakistan, including those present in areas bordering Afghanistan.

“India should refrain from such nefarious activities,” Qureshi said.

The FATA (the Federally Administered Tribal Areas) consists of eight districts along the Afghan border that have been plagued by Islamic militancy.
