 Bangladesh unveils ‘cheapest’ $130 ‘Doel laptops’ Dhaka, Oct 12 : Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has unveiled the nation’s first domestically made laptop named ‘Doel’.

The state-owned telecom company Telephone Shilpa Sangstha (TSS) has produced four models of the laptop.

The most basic model that runs the android operating system is priced at 10,000 taka (130 dollars), and is the cheapest laptop in the world.

TSS managing director Mohammad Ismail said that the new laptop would bring lots of benefits to the nation.

Sheikh HasinaThe Sheikh Hasina government on Thursday offered six fugitive convicted killers of President Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for appeal to the Supreme Court.

Law Minister Shafique Ahmed said the government had information about the fugitives and was working to bring them back to face justice.

“The home and foreign ministries are working to bring the fugitives back. Interpol has already issued Red Alert notices against them,” he told reporters at the Secretariat in Dhaka.

The Supreme Court last November upheld the previous High Court death sentences of 12 former army officers for Mujib’s murder.

India is viewing her maiden visit as a historic opportunity to build a new and forward-looking relationship, and hopes that its security concerns are addressed.

The two sides will sign five crucial treaties, including those on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, mutual transfer of convicted prisoners, on fight against international terrorism, organised crime and illegal drug trafficking.

Sheikh Hasina Dhaka, Dec 7 : Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina may visit New Delhi in January next year as her December visit has been rescheduled since leaders of both countries will be busy at the Copenhagen climate summit, Foreign Minister Dipu Moni said Monday.

"The Bangladesh prime minister's visit has been rescheduled. Though the fresh date has not yet finalised, but the tour is expected to take place Jan 10 or 11 next year," Moni told reporters.

According to the earlier programme, the Bangladesh leader was scheduled to visit India Dec 18 to 21 and the possible date of the meeting with the Indian prime minister was Dec 19.
