Islamabad, Jan 12 : Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has ruled out mid-term elections in the country, saying that the PPP-led ruling coalition would complete its five-year term.
Talking to the media after inaugurating the cadet college at Pano Aqil, Gilani refuted reports that the government was under any international pressure over the sacking of former national security adviser Mehmud Ali Durrani.
Gilani said India had provided a dossier on the alleged involvement of Pakistani militants in the Mumbai terrorist attacks.
Islamabad, Jan. 8 : Highly informed sources in the Pakistan Government have said that the sacking of the National Security Advisor Major General (retd) Mehmud Durrani was more related to the fact that Durrani denied PM Gilani of taking the credit for breaking the news about Ajmal Kasab's nationality, the Dawn reported.
"Durrani was apparently sacked for leaking the news, since it not only caught the Prime Minister off guard, but perhaps also deprived him of taking the credit for breaking the news," the website quoted a highly placed source in the Pakistan Government, as saying.
Obaro, Dec. 27 : It seems that everyone in Pakistan enjoys being in news, and when the situation is as volatile as it is now, the easiest way to be in lime light is to talk about war.
Just when the war hysteria was being toned down by Pakistan Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, Pak minister for production Sardar Abdul Qayyum Jatoi came out with the statement that if a war breaks then half of Indian population and 120 million of Pakistani population would be wiped off.
Jatoi warned India of facing severe results if it attacks Pakistan.
Islamabad, Dec. 24 : Pakistani Premier Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that he doesn't want any tension on the Indo-Pak borders.
Gilani vowed to act responsibly and cautiously to ease the tension between two nations, which arose after India blamed Pakistan based elements for the Mumbai terror attacks, the Daily Times reported.
"Nobody wants tensions on the borders, and we are moving responsibly and with caution," the Prime Minister said.
Multan, Dec. 10 : Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has assured India that action would be taken against all those using Pakistan soil for terrorism, and added that he was ready to send Pakistan delegation to India for investigations.
Talking to reporters at Multan Airport, Gilani was quoted by The News as saying that "Pakistan was a responsible country and we didn't want to arrive at any conclusion without any investigations."
Investigations against defunct organizations are underway and Maulana Masood Azhar and others are also being probed, he said.
Replying to a question, he said that the Pakistan Army possesses highly professional expertise and Indian Air Force's high alert was not a matter of worry.
