London, Nov 9 : Comedian Whoopi Goldberg reportedly confused the wizard from ‘Lord of the Rings’ with Harry Potter’s.

Goldberg, 53, embarrassed Sir Ian McKellen, 70, when she interviewed him on the US TV panel show ‘The View’.

“Are you coming back in Harry Potter?” the Daily Express quoted her as having asked McKellen.

The actor was slightly irritated but he went on to explain the difference.

London, October 21: Actress Whoopi Goldberg was recently honoured with the Marlon Brando Award at the 2009 Stella by Starlight Gala for her achievement in Hollywood.

The Ghost star celebrated remembering her late friend and legendary actor after whom the award was titled.

"It (the award) was great just because of my relationship with Marlon, so it was nice,” the Daily Express quoted her as saying.

Washington, October 20 : Actress Whoopi Goldberg underwent an earlobe surgery recently to cure a mystery ailment.

She apparently revealed it while referring to the Colorado balloon boy incident, reports Contactmusic.

News networks had halted her interview for the breaking news on Colorado boy, during which she said: "I wasn''t watching the news because I was trying to have an operation on my earlobe."

London, Sept 30 : Actress Whoopi Goldberg has sparked anger by claiming that Roman Polanski wasn’t guilty of rape.

The actress and comedian defended the filmmaker during a segment on talk show, The View, reports the Mirror.

The 53-year-old said of Polanski’s confession to sex with a girl of 13 in 1977: “It was something else but I don’t believe it was rape-rape.”

“He went to jail and when they let him out he was like ‘This guy’s gonna give me 100 years. I’m not staying,” she added.

Later in the programme, she added: “We’re a different kind of society, we see things differently. Would I want my 14-year-old having sex? Not necessarily, no.”

Washington, Sept 16 : Actress Whoopi Goldberg remembers late actor Patrick Swayze as a “funny man” who repeatedly flashed his bare bottom while she shot for their hit movie Ghost.

The 53-year-old American actress insists she has fond memories of their time together.

"Patrick was a really good man, a funny man and one to whom I owe much that I can''t ever repay. I believe in Ghost''s message, so he''ll always be near," Contactmusic quoted her as saying,

She recalls, "The camera would be on me and he''d be off to the side and he''d moon me! It was the greatest.”

She credits Swayze with helping her win an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Ghost.

London, Jan 17 : American actress Whoopi Goldberg was left red-faced at the recent movie awards ceremony she was hosting, when she introduced actor Josh Brolin as his father, James.

Goldberg, who presented January 14 night's 100th annual National Board of Review of Motion Pictures ceremony in New York, introduced the W star as his Emmy Award-winning actor/director dad.

Brolin dismissed the error and made a joke out of it when he stepped on stage to collect his Best Supporting Actor gong for Milk.

"That's how f***ing famous I am! I just whispered in her ear, `What's the matter with you?' She said, `I don't know - I'm high!'" the Daily Express quoted him as saying.

Washington, Jan 16: Whoopi Goldberg has praised late Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry for representing black people in his iconic science-fiction show.

Roddenberry, who passed away in 1991, hired African-American actress Nichelle Nichols a lead character in the original 1969 TV series, at a time when the black community wasn''t well represented in sci-fi programmes.

And the Oscar-winner said the TV legend's actions inspired her to take on a role in the show''s successful spin-off, `Star Trek: The Next Generation'.

Washington, Dec 17 : Hollywood actress Whoopi Goldberg is all set to act in a new science fiction mini-series called `Stream', which would only be broadcasted on the Internet.

The 6-minute weekly installment will feature the `Ghost' actress overcoming her fears, reports Contactmusic.

Prior to `Stream' Goldberg had appeared in `Star Trek: The Next Generation' in the late 1980s.

The new series will be telecasted on the 15th of January on Fearnet. com.

Washington, Dec 5: Actress Whoopi Goldberg is desperate to work with Tom Cruise in a bid to win another Oscar.

The ‘Ghost’ actress is convinced that working with the ‘Vanilla Sky’ actor would get her an Oscar, as he has proved lucky for many of his co-actors.

Whoopi, who is baffled as to why the Hollywood hunk hasn’t won any Oscar till date, mentions the example of Cuba Gooding Junior, who acted alongside Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire and won an Oscar.

"One of the reasons I want to work with him is that he seems to gather Academy Award nominations for the people he works with,” Contactmusic quoted Whoopi, as saying.

Washington, Nov 15 : Oscar winning actress Whoopi Goldberg is all set to take her blockbuster flick ‘Sister Act’ to the stage.

The actress, who had received critical acclaim for her part as singer-turned-nun Deloris Van Cartier in the 1992 film, has written a musical version of the movie.

And now, the stage version of the story will open in London next year (09).

However, Goldberg has claimed that she has no plans to reprise her role in front of live audience.

Washington, November 12 : Whoopi Goldberg wants to be a documentary filmmaker and has signed a deal with Discovery Channel that will make her one.

The actress-comedienne-TV host, under her production company ‘Whoop Inc.’, has inked a development deal with Discovery Emerging Networks - the organisation behind the Discovery and Science Channel.

The Oscar-winner is set to work with her production partner Tom Leonardis to develop series of which at least one will broadcasted by the network, Variety reports.
