China's top diplomat plans trip to Mideast, Russia

ROUNDUP: Clinton meets Chinese counterpart, days after naval spat

Hillary Rodham Clinton and Yang Jiechi Washington  - US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks on the flagging global economy Wednesday, just days after the United States accused China of harassing one of its naval vessels in the South China Sea.

Clinton called it a productive meeting that brushed on economics, climate change, North Korea and Iran's nuclear programmes, Afghanistan, Darfur, as well as US concerns about China's human rights record.

Hillary Rodham Clinton and Yang Jiechi Washington  - US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks on Wednesday, just days after the United States accused China of harassing one of its naval vessels in the South China Sea.

The meeting also comes less than a month after Clinton's trip to Asia - her first overseas visit as the US chief diplomat - which was viewed as a sign of the increased attention President Barack Obama is paying to the continent.

Yang made the remarks while meeting domestic and overseas journalists on the sidelines of the annual parliament session at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

India is expected to provide evidence of Pakistani element's involvement in the Mumbai terror attacks.

India has compiled a dossier of evidence, which includes confession of Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone terrorist arrested during the attack, satellite phone intercepts and record of logbooks recovered from a ship by which ten heavily armed terrorists came from Karachi to Mumbai on November 26.

Chinese foreign Minister may visit India next week

New Delhi, Jan. 3 : In a bid to defuse tension between India and Pakistan, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi may visit India next week.

On Yang's arrival, India is expected to provide evidence of Pakistani element's involvement in the Mumbai terror attacks.

Yang Jiechi will also hold a meeting with his Indian counterpart, Pranab Mukherjee on the latest developments in Indo-Pak relations trying calm down the things between two neighbours.

Pranab Mukharjee had spoken with Yang last month and urging him to pressurise Pakistan to arrest the culprits of the Mumbai terror attacks.
