CPI (M) says Mayawati can be a PM candidate

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister MayawatiKolkata, Oct 14 : CPI (M) general secretary Prakash Karat today said that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati could be a prime ministerial candidate of a non-Congress and non-BJP alliance at the Centre depending on the outcome of the Lok Sabha elections.

“BSP is an important party and the ruling party in UP. We expect them to do well in Lok Sabha elections and therefore the leader of the BSP is going to be one of the people who I think will be considered,” Karat told reporters here.

Amar Singh gets a BSP man arrested for demanding Rs 5 crore to change statement

New Delhi, Sept 25 : Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh on Thursday had a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) worker demanding Rs five crore from him arrested.

He alleged that Azmat Ali made the demand in return for changing his version of the cash-for-vote scam, which a Parliamentary panel is probing.

Singh alleged that Ali had been repeatedly calling him for the past one month and had come to his official residence this morning to demand the hefty amount.

The Delhi Police later picked up Ali for questioning from Singh’s residence.

BSP releases candidates list for Rajasthan Assembly, LS polls

The list included the name of Jagat Singh, son of former External Affair Minister K. Natwar Singh.

Bharatiya Janata Party''s (BJP) rebel MLA Madan Mohan Singhal also got a ticket.

“He is being fielded from Kama Assembly constituency,” said BSP general secretary Dharamveer Singh Ashok to reporters.
